Being the busy people that we are today, it is helpful when healthy snacks and meals are fast and easy to make. This summer I have decided to help myself out by making smoothies more easily accessible. Smoothies can often create a big mess and can be time consuming because they require many different fruits and juices, and sometimes vegetables and powders. Making a big batch of your favorite smoothie and freezing it can make this process easy when you are on the move. This can be a huge time saver!
Summer Smoothies
Here are the steps to make-ahead summer smoothies:
- Make your favorite smoothie! Strawberry & banana with orange juice. Kale, chia seeds, banana & almond milk. Mango & pineapple with rice milk. Any type you like. In my experience, though, smoothies are best when you limit ingredients to 3 or 4, and are best for freezing if they do not have ice in them.
- Pour your smoothies into 6 wide-mouth pint Mason jars. Leave some room at the top (one to two inches). When the smoothies freeze, they will expand.
- Freeze your smoothies!
- Enjoy one of your frozen smoothies whenever you want a fast and easy meal or snack. Just remember to give it time to thaw out!
